Flash Oxford User Group - 1st Meeting
Today is the day of the first meeting of the Flash Oxford User Group. I have tried to tell as many people as possible about it, so I am hoping to get at least half a dozen people attending. I am surprised about how good a response I have had to setting this up.
In preparation I have been getting the latest up to date information on Adobe’s software developments. Many of us find it very easy to get confused about what the new software packages do, which package is best for which job etc. Hopefully I can shed some light on this and explain a bit about Adobe’s future strategy.
Today also coincides with a big news release from Adobe regarding the Open Screen Project. It is essentially a drive to open up the Flash player to a much wider range of devices. Its ultimate goal is to fulfil the long held idea of “creating once, and publishing to all platforms”. It will make it simpler to develop for desktop PCs, mobile phones and television, making Flash ever more accessible. More information about this at the meeting.
As we are meeting in a public house (Far from the Madding Crowd, Oxford) I have posted a photo of myself so you will know who we are. It will start at 7pm and although you can stay and chat as long as you like, I expect that the actual meeting will finish by 9pm.
I am looking forward to seeing the Flash Oxford User Group develop into something very useful for designers, animators and developers in the local area.
