Flash Oxford User Group is now officially up and running. Thank you to Jim, Julian and Alun for attending the first meeting.
We talked about our own experiences with Flash, and a mixture of topics including animation, games and advertising. It was decided that each months meeting should include a half hour slot for a demo or presentation.
There was much interest in the free $2500 worth of software that Abode have offered us. There was a suggestion that the prize be given to OFVM, a local centre for film and digital media, and somehow shared. I may suggest that the group buys a copy of Flash Media Server, this could easily be shared by the group. I think we will talk more about this. Julian skilfully won this months prize of an Adobe T-shirt.
It was useful that the venue (Far From the Madding Crowd) had WiFi, it was more busy than usual and quite loud. Everyone, except myself, lived in North Oxford, so there was some discussion about good venues for the group in Summertown. We agreed that we should try some other venues such as Freud’s Café in Jericho.
It was inspiring to meet and chat with other Flash users, I have added some links that related to what we discussed. Looking forward to the next meeting (1st Thursday in June) details TBC.
